A 95 Year Old Me

This past weekend, I was challenged by an interview with executive coach Marshall Goldsmith. In it, he said to imagine what a 95 year old me would tell the current me to do to have a better life. So here goes:

Steve. Stop wasting time.

Stop thinking you can get to it later. Stop thinking that small amounts of time aren't useful. Stop thinking that it doesn't matter if you get to something or not and that you'll have plenty of time to do it another, well, time.

Stop thinking that the window of opportunity to do what's on your heart is unlimited. It's not. There's a season for everything, and each season has a limited amount of time.

Stop working without a plan. As something you read on Friday says: "Things rarely get stuck because of lack of time. They get stuck because the doing of them has not been defined." So, stop making things up as you go along and make a plan. In fact, make many of them - you need it.

And stop worrying about time too. Namely, take some time for you. Rest. Relax. Enjoy the TIME.

Are you listening Steve?

I hope so.
